- 1/3 cup of salad oil
- 1/3 cup of vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1-1/2 pounds of beef flank steak
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1 onion, very thinly sliced
- 3/4 teaspoon of paprika
- 2 teaspoons of horseradish
- 1 teaspoon of flour
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 6 slices of toasted French bread
- chopped parsley for garnish
Make a marinade by mixing the oil, vinegar, garlic salt and pepper. Marinate (soak) the flank steak in the marinade for at least four hours.
Cook the sliced onions slowly in the 1/4 cup of butter until they are browned. This will typically take about 20 or 25 minutes.
Mix ito the browned onions the paprika, horseradish, flour and sour cream.
Broil the steak until it is medium rare, or cook it to your desired degree of doneness (rare, medium, well done, etc) The steak can also be cooked on a grill or in a very hot large skillet.
Cut the flank steak into thin slices, arrange them on the toasted French bread, top with the onion and sour cream sauce and garnish with parsley.
