- 2 cups of butter
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 egg white
- 2 tablespoons almond extract
- 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Optional Ingredients:
- food coloring to tint the dough (typically green or pink)
- candied fruit pieces or peel
- tiny candy balls for topping
- colored granulated sugar for topping
- preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- grease a cookie sheet lightly
- cream the butter until light and fluffy
- gradually beat in the sugar
- blend in the egg yolks one at a time.
- beat in the egg white and almond extract
Gradually add the flour, in small amounts at a time, while continuously beating the mixture.
Use a cookie press to press the dough onto the greased cookie sheet.
If you are decorating the cookies with toppings, add the toppings before baking.
Bake cookies in the preheated 350 degree oven about 8 or 10 minutes, until the cookie edges are golden.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for one minute before removing them to a wire rack to continue cooling.
