Topping Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/2 cup of chopped pecans
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
Sweet Potato Ingredients:
- 3 (1 pound) cans of sweet potatoes
(or)
- 6 medium size fresh sweet potatoes, cooked
Place sugar, cream, butter, pecans, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a one quart saucepan. Cook, stirring, over low heat until well bleded and a heavy syrup forms, usually about 7 minutes.
Heat canned sweet potatoes then drain off all the liquid (if using fresh sweet potatoes, cook, peel, and quarter).
Immediately before serving, Place the hot sweet potatoes in a heated serving dish and pour the hot syrup over them.
