Bon Bon Cookies

An online recipe with instructions for making Bon Bon Cookies.

Ingredients

Cookie Dough Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of butter, softened
- 3/4 cup of sifted powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla
- Food coloring (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt

Icing Ingredients
- 1 cup of sifted powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons of cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- Food coloring (optional)

Filling Ideas
- coconut mixed with semi-sweet or unsweetened melted chocolate
- maraschino cherry
- date
- nut

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. COOKIE DOUGH: Mix the butter, 3/4 cup of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, and the (optional) food coloring and mix thoroughly. sift in the flour and salt. If the dough seems too dry, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of cream.

FILLING AND BAKING: Wrap level tablespoon size lumps of dough around the selected fillings and shape the cookies into balls. Place them on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake in the preheated 350 degree oven about 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool the cookies completely before frosting.

FROSTING: Mix the frosting ingredients and (after the cookies have completely cooled) dip their tops into the frosting.

DECORATING TOPS: Decorate the tops of the cookies if desired with items such as nuts, coconut, sprinkles, and other decorations that will make them resemble bon bon candies.
